Historic center of Patti

Port San Michele

Built between 1282 and 1284 in Gothic style, the Porta San Michele is the only one of the five historic gates that allowed access to the city. This important testimony of the old city walls has suffered collapses over time, but was restored in 2015 to ensure its recovery and preservation.

Marinello Lakes Nature Reserve

The nature reserve of Marinello Lakes, established in 1998 and managed by the Metropolitan City of Messina, covers over 400 hectares at the foot of the promontory of Tindari. Archaeological area and Greek Theater of Tindari

Tindari, an ancient Greco-Roman city founded in 396 BC by Dionysius of Syracuse, was a military fort occupied by the Carthaginians, conquered by the Romans and devastated by the Arabs in 836 AD The archaeological area includes a Greco-Roman theater, baths, Cyclopean walls and the Antiquarium with historical finds and marble statues.

Cathedral of St. Bartholomew

The Cathedral basilica of St. Bartholomew, the largest and oldest church in Patti, is located next to the Bishop's palace on a hill overlooking the city. Founded in 1094 by Count Ruggero d'altavilla, it has a central Gothic portal with columns and zoomorphic capitals. Inside, works of art and funeral monuments, including the sarcophagus of Queen Adelasia, wife of Ruggero, who died in Patti in 1118.

Sanctuary of Tindari

The sanctuary of the Madonna del Tindari, located on the top of the homonymous hill, dominates the Gulf of Patti. Opened in 1975, it incorporates a church of the third century partially destroyed by Turkish pirates in 1544. The venerated wooden statue of the Madonna, dating from between the eighth and first century, is represented as”Basilissa". The Moderna shrine is adorned with stained glass windows and mosaics, and every year on September 7-8, it attracts thousands of pilgrims for the holiday.
